▓███ 'So Ghost?' is a ADD dose of pure, uncut leftfield-pop ███▓
▓███ - all given the rough and ready edge by spiralling ███▓
▓███ productions that happily draft in film soundtracks, ███▓
▓███ ratchet beats, Eastern European campfire aesthetics and ███▓
▓███ Fairport folk. The opening salvo of 'Saving Juno' will ███▓
▓███ be familiar to anyone who dipped their toes in Karaoke ███▓
▓███ Kalk's recent label sampler, and time has in no way ███▓
▓███ dulled it's brusque immediacy; gutting a conventional ███▓
▓███ folk-song and filling in the gaps with COLOSSAL ███▓
▓███ electro-pop choruses that are a million miles from ███▓
▓███ subtle. Moving on from here, Roman turns down the ███▓
▓███ levels a little for 'Skiver', wherein a stuttering set ███▓
▓███ of beats are draped with his strangely moreish vocals ███▓
▓███ before all manner of multi-harmonisation get Flying ███▓
▓███ Pickets on your ass. Elsewhere, 'So What?' is a ███▓
▓███ bareboned production of treated strings and ███▓
▓███ death-rattle beats, 'Cuddle for a Corpse' could be ███▓
▓███ Damon Aaron collaborating with DJ Shadow, whilst 'True ███▓
▓███ Love Owes Us Sh*t' grafts Casio rhythms onto a mournful ███▓
▓███ cello, over which Roman gets all wordy. Closing with ███▓
▓███ 'Modlitwa' (which is closer to Antony and the Johnsons ███▓
▓███ than his Angie Reed-pop), Roman has packed 'So Ghost?' ███▓
▓███ with enough sonic innovation and melody-heavy adjuncts ███▓
▓███ to ensure far more people will love it than loathe it. ███▓
