I absolutely loved their debut mini-album, this is a bit
less accessible so I will let a professional guide you;
"
COUNTLESS bands have copied vocal styles and melodies
from Radiohead's OK Computer, but almost a decade on
hardly any have recaptured that album's sheer musical
invention. So it's a thrill to report that, on what must
be a fraction of Radiohead's budget, a Glasgow band have
pulled it off. Blunderbuss is terrific stuff, an
unashamedly progressive rock album with heart, soul and
intelligence that, crucially, understands that there is
a line between adventurous and self-indulgent.
At the centre of things, unusually, is a piano. If Tori
Amos joined Muse, the results might sound a little like
this, although that hardly does justice to Cayto's
passionate and occasionally bonkers sound, which manages
to dip its toes into classical, jazz and heavy metal
without ever losing focus. Ultimately, it's fine
songwriting that holds it together - Morning and The
Thread of Forever are particularly good - intimate one
minute, epic and thrilling the next.
