║ Kaustav Malik and Ian Mitchell have been playing music together ║
║ since junior high school. After many years of listening to and ║
║ jamming to bands like August Burns Red, ERRA, All That Remains (old ║
║ ATR, obviously), and bands of that sort, they were finally able to ║
║ connect with a screamer, Johnathan Spilker, to bring their creative ║
║ efforts into fruition. After working on music for a couple summers ║
║ and spending time away from one another at college, Helicase was ║
║ able to book studio time with Jamie King at the Basement Recordings ║
║ in North Carolina. They recorded their first EP there and released ║
║ it in early 2017. Helicase then brought in members Connor Lake and ║
║ Damon Bollin in support for show dates in the summer of 2017. ║
║ Helicase recorded their second EP, "The Roots of Empty Space" in ║
║ that same summer, and released that EP at the end of 2017. ║
