DJ Pooh's classic 1997 solo record 'Bad Newz Travels Fast' -- more quality
bumps, for those of you who enjoy rap music that's actually good, and not mumbly
benzodiazepine-sucking bullshit by kids with AK-47 face tattoos & absentee
fathers who lie about their street gang affiliations and film themselves
commiting felonies for virtual street cred on Instergramz.
This album is an absolute West Coast classic that is criminally unheard by way
too many people. DJ Pooh is a long-established veteran music producer, beat
maker, writer, actor, sometimes rapper, and 3 or 4 other jobs. He's been around
a long time, and has more than likely worked with some, or all, of your favorite
artists (not just rappers, he produces music for other genres, too).
While not it's sole creator, DJ Pooh had a lot to do with refining and shaping
what everyone today would likely refer to as "that West Coast sound". He has
produced songs, and sometimes entire EPs/LPs, for artists such as 2Pac, Snoop
Dogg, Daz Dillinger, Dr. Dre, Kurupt, Ice Cube, and many many others. You've
heard DJ Pooh's work before, even if you don't know him by name. We need to fix
that, so check out this album. It has a dream-team lineup of featured artists,
paired with some undeniably classic, subwoofer thumpin beats.
