█░█ Hailing from San Francisco, Frequent Flyer is █░█
█░█ work of Jarond Gibbs who began releasing albums █░█
█░█ in 1999, accruing the FF moniker in 2000 for his █░█
█░█ debut full-length. Now returning with his first █░█
█░█ album in five years, Gibbs has presented us with █░█
█░█ "Frequent Flyer", a nine song dreamscape which █░█
█░█ borrows soft French and Brazilian undertones, █░█
█░█ floats them underneath whispered vocals, and █░█
█░█ keeps your attention with a smattering of █░█
█░█ electro-pop bleeps and minimalist percussion. █░█
█░█ Heartfelt and soothing, the album quickly turns █░█
█░█ into a very comforting indie-pop treasure upon █░█
█░█ first listen. In addition to Gibbs' own █░█
█░█ songwriting, the album's final track is a █░█
█░█ delightful cover of the Red House Painters fan █░█
█░█ favorite "Three Legged Cat". Logical comparisons █░█
█░█ of Frequent Flyer lead fans of Air and Stereolab █░█
█░█ to mingle with a folk scene housing more mellow █░█
█░█ acts like America or Josh Rouse. All tracks █░█

█░█ FREQUENT FLYER ? I guess it all starts and ends █░█
█░█ with JAROND GIBBS. Coming from a steep, windy San █░█
█░█ Francisco hill overlooking the bay, his music █░█
█░█ sounds at home with neighbors like MARK KOZELEK █░█
█░█ whose song "Three Legged Cat" Jarond delicately █░█
█░█ covers. Although this new album owes to Paris and █░█
█░█ San Francisco for inspiration, I first discovered █░█
█░█ Jarond deep in the heart of southern California █░█
█░█ while fronting the band REDDY KILOWATT, whose █░█
█░█ demo tape is still one of my prized possessions. █░█
█░█ While recording and playing with the band █░█
█░█ MAJESTIC [1999 & 2001 Shelflife Records] he █░█
█░█ released a self titled solo album titled "Jarond" █░█
█░█ on BB&PTC [2000] in America and on Tone Vendor / █░█
█░█ Impartmaint in Japan. This album affected me much █░█
█░█ like the first time I heard Belle and Sebastian; █░█
█░█ intriguing on first listen but it wasn't until █░█
█░█ later that I realized how far downstream I had █░█
█░█ drifted into his sound. █░█

█░█ BOA MEDLEY described it as "...understated █░█
█░█ keyboard oriented pop with a melancholic vein..." █░█
█░█ Jaronds new project "Frequent Flyer" builds on █░█
█░█ the groundwork left from his debut CD but takes █░█

█░█ minimal digital landscapes with intimate analog █░█
█░█ flair, not far from AIR or HIGH LLAMAS. Where █░█
