"Vintage fuzz laced with Terry Riley-esque loops opens B.
Fleischmann's follow up to the treasure that was Welcome
Tourist. His signature Morr Music infused home listening is
triple distilled to perfection in The Humbucking Coil.
The easy beats and cushioned piano melodies are enough to bring
on a hot flush, coupled with synths and gentle vocals
structured around a beautifully slow and lugubrious swelling of
sound. ThereÆs no rush to the build, and as Fleischmann has
said before, take your time.
The Humbucking Coil is executed with precision and finesse,
with nothing overdone nor underdone. ThereÆs a wealth of
influences quietly evident within the surprisingly varied
tracks. Static Grate carries a muted clarinet to imbue a jazz
element, while From To hits heavier beats in a more sparse
arrangement.
ItÆs a grower, but doesnÆt need work, after a few listens the
tracks settle and separate into one of the most graceful
collections of home listening electronica. The Humbucking Coil
fulfils the wide-eyed expectations left by Welcome Tourist,
sitting comfortably in the shoes it left, leaving smiles all
round."
