A1 Kenny & The Beach Boys - The Big Payback 3:14
B1 L Charmers - Look Ka Py Py 2:55
Two great little funk tracks with a reggae flavour. First up is the rare "The
Big Payback" - a James Brown cover from Kenny & The Beach Boys and on the flip,
Lloyd Charmers dubby version of The Meters "Look-Ka Py Py" - summer on wax!
When the radio airwaves from miami and the southern states of American carried
over the new sounds of R&B the Caribbean was heavily influenced. The band Kenny
and the Beach Boys picked up the seminal JB track and Caribbean'd it up to great
effect. The flipside sees the Meters Look get the same reggae treatment. Reissue
from the same label as the recent Mohawks stuff.
