After dropping several releases and remix works, e.g. RHYTHM OF LIFE EP
(PT016.EP) and the
HIPNOSIS EP on Munich's essential freestyle label PERFECT.TOY RECORDS, the time
is right to release a full-scale, album length masterpiece to present a
contemporary cutting edge concept of what is FUNK. Lower Bavarian born ZERO
CROSSING - aka Andreas Angerer - names producers like early PHOTEK, RICHIE
HAWTIN, HERBERT or TAMPA CREW as his major influences. And ZERO CROSSING sounds
like a mixture of these, adding boogie and jazz elements. The result is a unique
style - a new version/vision of FUNK, with references to deep house, future
funk, disco and even rap - strange beatz, heavy grooves and sounds, always
rough, delivering surprising combinations: MY KINDA FUNK.
Like on his previous releases, ZERO CROSSING comes up with some top-notch
artists, who perfectly fit into ZERO CROSSING's funk vision. First to mention
KOOL KEITH, of whom the ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE writes "KOOL KEITH is to Rap what
George Clinton and Parliament are to Funk". The second artists to mention is NY
based DJ producer JAYMZ NYLON, who is also releasing on PERFECT.TOY RECORDS
(VIRGIN SAND EP - PT.017.EP) and who is also known for his openness for new
styles and sounds between funk, jazz, house, soul.
