More Reggae blends in a mash-up style featuring artists old and new. Features a
killer Eryka Badu On & On blend and a King Tubby / Buju Banton number -
essential DJ weapon!
This 12" was distributed hand-to-hand, giving you an idea of how homemade and
limited they are. Although not the most novel of concepts, blending popular
acapellas over reggae riddims is a deadly DJ weapon. The 'On & On' mix on here
works a treat, the mysterious editor clearly having an ear for matching
melodies. The rest of the EP features Buju Banton over King Tubby's 'Gunman',
Gentleman over the 'Truth & Rights' rhythm and the Beastie Boys 'Root Down' over
the 'Cloudy' rhythm.
From the same part of the UK as Nuff Wish comes this EP of quality hip
hop-reggae blends. First up is "Drop It On", which unites Erykah Badu's "On And
On" vocal with the "Drop Leaf" reggae riddim - sweet! Next up Buju Banton's
vocals get merged with King Tubby's mix of "Gunman" for "Sensimilla
Persecution", while Gentleman's "Superior" gets laid over the Studio 1 "Take A
Ride" rhythm for "Superior Ride". Lastly there's a dancehall remake of The
Beastie Boys "Root Down" using the "Cloudy" rhythm.
