jonny miller debuts on the phuture lounge label with his "cold
air" ep. now residing in manchester, he kicked off his love affair
with music through his dj work at the age of 16 for the legendary
fantasy fm. his musical journey took him from being embroiled in
the drum'n'bass scene, through to producing music as one half of
korova. since the well received "essi" surfaced last year on wah
wah 45's, jonny miller has been hard at work developing his sound
and now finds himself a more permanent home at manchester's
phuture lounge.
in recent months the "cold air ep" has been moving all the right
dance floors and radio shows across the globe all from limited
cdrs given to the chosen few. the title track "cold air" drops an
icy, broken beat groove with layered percussion and subtle synth
touches that hint, rather than shout, melody.
on the flip side, the crisp, rolling percussion and sparse brass
hook of "rise" results in an energetic opening before the d'n'b
styled sprawling b-line comes into effect. a bassbin worrier, with
a vicious edge. rounding off, "nine-eight-zero" resurrects the
famous apache break to complete an ep that's aimed squarely toward
the dance floor, again the tight drum patterns shine through...
