│║ A step forward in the battle, thatÆs the exact ║ │
│║ translation for the title of V8┤s second studio ║ │
│║ album. Released in 1985, this album is not as ║ │
│║ legendary and not as excellent as the previous ║ │
│║ one, Luchando Por El Metal but indeed is worth ║ │
│║ listenable. Would you stop listening or even ║ │
│║ skip away Megadeth┤s ôSo Far, So Good, So Whatö ║ │
│║ because it is not as good as ôRust In Peaceö or ║ │
│║ ôPeace Sells?ö Well, you shouldnÆt because itÆs ║ │
│║ great. The same happens with this second V8 ║ │
│║ album, maybe it seems flat when compared to the ║ │
│║ first one but it is still a very enjoyable piece ║ │
│║ of metal. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ The album kicks off with ôDeseando destruir y ║ │
│║ matarö which is a fast, raw and mean tune with ║ │
│║ an astonishing solo by Osvaldo Civile. This song ║ │
│║ has V8┤s trademark: lyrics about death and ║ │
│║ rebellion. The second track is ôSiervos Del Malö ║ │
│║ which is also fast and pounding but not as ║ │
│║ classic as the previous one. Next is ôLa Mano ║ │
│║ Malditaö, this song borrows a riff from ║ │
│║ MotorheadÆs early albums, so as almost every V8 ║ │
│║ song is fast and aggressive with pummelling drum ║ │
│║ work and excellent riffage. ôCautivos De Un ║ │
│║ Sistemaö is fast but most melodic; donÆt get me ║ │
│║ wrong, it is not Stratovarius or the fags of ║ │
│║ Edguy. It is widely influenced by some Iron ║ │
│║ Maiden riffing. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ ôLanzado Al Mundo Hoyö is a mid tempo and heavy ║ │
│║ track with lyrics about not surrendering when ║ │
│║ everything goes bad and fighting against the ║ │
│║ injustice. ôIdeando La Fugaö is really a Thrash ║ │
│║ metal assault with a drilling main riff. ThatÆs ║ │
│║ the way it should be described. Next is ôCamino ║ │
│║ Al Sepulcroö which is a hitting hard and fast ║ │
│║ song that turns to mid tempo with a glorious ║ │
│║ break and then ends quite fast. Yet we have ║ │
│║ another heavy as fuck and accurate as hell riff. ║ │
│║ Finally comes ôMomento De Lucharö which is ║ │
│║ another fast Thrash like song that shows ║ │
│║ Osvaldo┤s dexterity and ability as guitarist. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ The production of this album is weak and in ║ │
│║ consequence the sound of the album is muddy but ║ │
│║ as I had always said on my reviews, do you ║ │
│║ prefer drilling riffs or Dolby Surround 5.1? I ║ │
│║ would pick the first one without doubting it. ║ │
│║ This album was recorded by the original line up. ║ │
│║ Alberto Zamarbide on vocals, Osvaldo Civile on ║ │
│║ guitars, Ricardo Iorio on bass and Gustavo Rowek ║ │
│║ on drums, how do they perform? Well, the guitar ║ │
│║ is always going to the front, we can also find a ║ │
│║ brilliant drumming, fine vocals and a good bass ║ │
│║ performance. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ V8 will be remembered for ever and not only ║ │
│║ musically. They were almost the only band who ║ │
│║ dared to play Heavy Metal during a harsh and ║ │
│║ repressive military government and the only ones ║ │
│║ who dared to use long hair and leather jackets. ║ │
