The new Gigolo electro-rock sensation XLOVER is coming back with a new
EP taking from their latest Pleasure And Romance album, already praised
by the critics as one of the most original rock albums of the year.
With Lovesucker the band of BRYAN BLACK, the former sound designer and
programmer of PRINCE, and OLIVIER GRASSET (aka MR NO) is proving all
its talent in blending manually performed robotic drums and
hard-rocking bass lines with dark cold electronic waves and pulsing
analogue synthesizers, thus showing to every rockæn roll hardliners
that there's a space for rock in electronic music and vice-versa.
Lovesucker is this opener on the album, where the softness of NINA
RAIÆs voice is combined with a very poppy drumline, mininal rock guitar
and bass, plus some dark electro sounds twisting your mind after the
first opening minutes of sweetness. But this 12ÆÆ especially features
an extraordinary remix version called Suckbox - a kind of mutational
mix of Lovesucker and MOTORÆs club hit Sweatbox! Composed by MOTOR,
i.e. the dark face of XLOVER (BRYAN BLACK and the very secret MR NO,
freshly coming out of the industrial wasteland of Paris to intoxicate
the world of electronic music), this track is a masterpiece of
minimalism, able to turn everyone into robots dancing under acid before
bursting out of crazyness!
THE GLIMMERS couldnÆt stay aside watching this new band taking over the
music scene and eventually over the world without showing their talent
in minimal techno! Also very reduced, this version is nicely swinging
between a dark atmosphere with a reboosted bass line and darkener
analogue synth, also adding a more bouncy drumatic part that makes you
jump compulsively till the end!
This very innovative mixture is setting a new trend in the
ever-evolving world of music between Sex, Trash and Glamour
corresponding totally to the new Gigolo definition of music.
