Release Notes:
It is a tribute to the late, great Art Blakey that so many
musicians feel they owe their musical reputations to him and are
grateful to have had the opportunity to play with Art under his
direction and, of course, leadership. Art's revolving lineup of
Jazz Messengers has included names like Freddie Hubbard, Wayne
Shorter, Horace Silver and a multitude of others that have gone to
establish leadership in their own names. Years after the be-bop
revolution, Art's band continued to push the limits of post-bop
and the lineup presented on this CD were perhaps the most future
forward of all.
