Drawing inspiration from Salsa, Samba, Afrobeat, Arabic, Bollywood, Dancehall,
Disco, Hip Hop, and House, Brooklyn's Captain Planet's (aka Charlie Bethel)
"Gumbo Funk E.P." bridges globally scattered genres with the universal love of a
danceable breakbeat. Samples bits and pieces of the old and obscure from around
the world. Tightly woven layers of syncopated percussion build the foundation
for piercing horn blasts, driving bass riffs, wah-wah guitars, jazzy keyboard
vamps, and reinterpreted vocal samples.
FOR FANS OF: Thievery Corporation, J-Boogie's "Dubtronic Science",sampledelic
funkateers Quantic, Madlib and Beatfanatic.
