friendly no one is the midwest rock dream of four starry eyed
boys, twisted inside a moody evolution over years of dedication,
and has cloudy beginnings lost in wisconsin rivervalley
latenights. we maintain the notion that the boundlessness of rock
music remains neglected in the name of fame and its vast frontiers
remain unexplored. the story of fno unfolds here:
1997. the phrase friendly no one is born on the
tongue of high school summers and a friends new song with a sugar
name, its melody lost beyond memories bounds. we've since wrapped
ourselves up and down in the orphan titles soft shell.
1998. college bound scott meets college bound atom and begin the
blueprint design of friendly no one. songwriting together grants
glimpses of a possible musical future and so they patiently hold
hands awaiting companions.
2001. scott, having given up classroom boredom, moves to the city
to seek out more musical soulmates. meets the acquaintance of dove
and tony separately. after a short stint in a band endlessly known
as the summer thus far, tony and scott remain interested in each
others respective talents, and together enjoy embracing doves
heartwrenching songsinging.
2002. naturally, the three draw together into terror from the year
five thousand, a rock band.
2003. tony and scott move to minnesota in hot pursuit of furniture
designer atom , he having just graduated from the academy. terror
and fno are infused and over series of months, attempts are made
to perfect missing songs and bridge gaping gaps in bouts of mad
scientistry and careful planning. dove soulsearches europe and
returns to the states to join in the fun. friendly no one begins
here...
-----------
Friendly No One. The Cleveland Specials, Friendly No OneÆs long-tinkered-with
debut album, is the product of a year spent working in the groupÆs apartment-
based home studio, and an obvious attention to detail defines the lengthy listening
experience (the album clocks in at just under an hour). Veering between jazzy
clean-strummed guitars and power-chorded crunch on their generally windy
tunes, Friendly No One exhibit a great deal of promise. This is the rare band
who talk about exploring ôthe boundlessness of rock musicö in their press release
and arenÆt totally bullshitting you. (pulsetc.com)
