Blackthorn is a Swedish group who play Irish music in
their own arrangements. Blackthorn have played concerts
and festials around Sweden, and also in Norway, Finland
and Italy.
Blackthorn are:
* Anders ClarhΣll: fiddle, durspel
* Fredrik Jakobsson: bouzouki, piano
* Karin Johansson: song, bodhrßn
* Henrik Norbeck: trΣtvΣrfl÷jt, tin whistle, song
* J÷rgen SΣlde: guitar, mandolin, banjo
The group has existed since 1993. This is their second CD
"Swift and Sloe", released in December 2002. The recording
contains a mixture of sad and happy songs and swinging
dance tunes.

A great traditional Irish album, with everything you would
expect from high quality Irish trad - a range of lesser
known traditional ballads, sung by a beautiful sensitive
female voice well backed by skilled musicians, some lively
tunes; good and tight playing. Blackthorn has existed for
some 10 years, and the music sounds just as mature as
that. And if had heard the CD without having read the
names of the musicians in the CD booklet, I would have
been convinced that this is a good trad band from Ireland.
Very well done, en jΣttebra skiva!
