Welcoming Imran Khan to the Proton Music roster, his Organik
debut is set to make a sizeable splash with remixes from UK and
Irish legends.
A November 2016 newcomer to the underground dance scene, Imran
Khan has since provided over a century of impressive production
credits for the likes of Clinique, Stellar Fountain and MNL. A
regular on Particles since October 2017's remix of Hot TuneiK,
his Dreamcatcher and Arrival EPs in 2018 have showcased the UK
artist's innumerable production talents. Making his debut
remixing LADS' Hagel for Proton Music in December the same year,
Imran now returns with the sublime, Organik. A chunky beat and
shuffling percussive groove herald a chorus of free-flowing
melodies to coruscate gently across the rich 7-minute sonic
tapestry. A sultry vocal cut whispers like me in enticing
fashion throughout and a beautiful blend of counterpoint phrases
emerge in the third movement to mesmerising effect. Organik is
thus a beautiful piece that is the perfect antidote to life's
stresses on a warm summer's evening.
An artist who has been a central pillar in dance music's
underground house, Barry Jamieson is an iconic and legendary
name with over two decades high-profile experience. Having
worked with Sasha on his ground-breaking Involver and Involv2er,
Jamieson's solo career has found a similarly elevated level of
success. With his music wedded to the acclaimed microCastle,
Quivver's Boz Boz and his own Circular Sounds Recordings,
Jamieson's Mono Electric Orchestra pseudonym has seen him
feature on John Digweed's Bedrock and Nick Warren's Hope
Recordings with stunning results. Remixing Kastis Torrau and
Donatello's Ida, under his own name, Jamieson now returns as
Mono Electric Orchestra to rework Organik. Creating a sonic
landscape of unparalleled quality, heavily effected reverse
reverb hints at Khan's motifs as orchestral passages sing across
the mid-range. Hitting its stride, a huge glissando bassline
punches through the low-end in stripped back glory against a
ticking percussive cadence, before the melodic structures build
once more with a plucked riff and rousing string passages that
are straight out of the Sasha production playbook. The result is
a remix that is at the very pinnacle of underground dance and a
timeless classic.
Known simply to Proton Music faithful as Silinder, Gavin Mulhall
has witnessed a long and distinguished history with the label.
Aptly describing his music as deep, dark and hypnotic with a
melodic theme, the Irish artist has led a jewel-encrusted career
with support from Sasha, Digweed and Zabiela to name but a few.
400 production credits sit proudly next to the Silinder name and
his work has consistently found its way onto an array of
blue-chip labels that include Sudbeat, Perspectives Digital and
Jackpot Records. Over 30 of those credits can be found on Proton
Music evidenced by the Corrupt, Solas and Basement EPs alongside
a varied selection of remixes. Now returning after February's
remix of Embliss, the Silinder interpretation epitomises his
trademark sound. A deep rolling groove combines with mesmerising
bassline, driving beat and metallic percussion to create the
perfect foundation for an immaculately placed collection of
cleverly entwined melodies to meander across the near 8-minute
piece. Reinventing Khan's Organik, a glorious breakdown paves
the way for a dynamic energy to return in the third movement as
a swathe of new production material see rhythm and melody create
a stunning interpretation.
With an original track and remixes from Mono Electric Orchestra
and Silinder, Imran Khan and his Organik have burst into life.
