"Grime has been threatening to make a genuine impact beyond
the sound of Bow bells ever since Dizzee first squawked his
way over 'I Luv U' in 2002, but with 2006 now blooming it
seems the mic-wreckers time might have come... One of the
few genres where you can consistently encounter genuinely
capricious music that grinds you to the core, Grime
veritably leaks energy from every orifice; a sweat and spit
furnace-blast that 'Heavy Meckle' seems to have documented
convincingly on CD for the first time. With A-bombs of bass
dropping all around, Matt Shadetek and Sheen take half each
- mixing a Niagara of Grime's finest (DJ Wonder, Jon E Cash
& Da Black Ops, Statik, Skepta & JME, Shystie, Ruff Squad,
Lethal B...) over which Jammer, Ears & the full Neckle Camp
(Knuckles, Flamin etc.) get chatty with some grade-A
freestyle verbiage. If Grime has always seemed a closed-gate
community where you're not welcome, now is the time to
plunge brazenly into the dubstep dramas being played out
with a passion and threatening zeal the majority of hip-hop
can only dream about. Backed up by enough cutting-edge
credentials to wallpaper a bathroom (Ears recent appearance
on Stacs of Stamina's 'Tivoli', Shadetek's beat
contributions for Modeselektor...), 'Heavy Meckle' is the
sound of Rinse FM made accessible to the masses. KILLER!!"
