Release Notes:
"I love surprises like Low Fen. They were completely unknown to me but the
moment I pressed played and the sweet sounds of their self-titled debut album
hit my unsuspecting ears, that was it. To say they floored me is an
understatement because what they play, and how they play it is what I love.
Hailing from the small town of Ladek-Zdr≤j in the mountains of south western
Poland, this quartet play instrumental stoner rock with trippy and suggestive
elements. I've said it before but it's worth saying again, when done right, the
way Low Fen does it, instrumental music is fantastic. They have structure to
follow but they jam out mixed with brilliant solos in between and best of all,
the guys allow the listener to create their own little world where you can
cleanse, recharge and come back so much stronger.
Don't know if the band has a red thread going through their songs, regardless
the flow between each composition moves seamlessly urging on all kinds of
emotions to swell up within. Most of all happiness and elation because I feel
great every time I listen to 'Low Fen'. Whether it's the sweet embracing tones
of 'RedNeckSwell(which turns into a stomper)' or the rollercoaster ride of
'7End' to the super nova surfing feeling of 'New Hill' I come out of it a new
better person. And personally, I couldn't ask for more in music.
Did I mention album closer 'Grasping Cloud'?I didn't? Well shame on me because
it's the catharsis needed. It moves between soft, transcendent passage only to
switch to atom and molecule smashing parts only to revert mellow sections.
Brilliant, indeed! I've only mentioned half the songs but don't take that as the
opening four are bad, on the contrary. '23', 'Grinder', 'Blue Job' and 'Mountain
Man' ignites the album and sets it off on it's journey to knock the breath out
of people. This is definitely a recording to be enjoyed from beginning to end.
To tie in with the beginning, this is the kind of surprise I like. Starting with
a blank slate at the first listen only to end up with a whole new enjoyment in
life once the album is over. I could not ask for more. Low Fen are a fantastic
new band and I urge you all to give them a chance. You will benefit from it and
your life will be better."
