Dutch artist Vince Forwards has been a prolific producer
throughout the 2010s, with diverse compositional offerings,
ranging from ambient and electronic to progressive house and
breaks. Unlike some of his more recent releases, he has chosen a
more atmospheric and chillout route for his wonderful new Stay
EP, which also marks his official label debut. The EP utilizes
drawn-out compositions and pads that act as various scenes in an
unfolding drama, rather than isolated tracks.
In Stay, the soothing sounds of flowing water can be heard in
the distance, as soft strings echo far away from the river of
sound. Deeply penetrating piano keys create a somber melody that
ripple through the track. Before long, the listener is
completely transported by atmospheric synths that sweep away the
worries of tomorrow.
From the very beginning of Scared, ethereal vocal pads
immediately carry the listener far away from earth and onto the
celestial plane. The piano moves forward with the careful
precision of footsteps on unfamiliar ground, creating an
intricate melody. The track's pull is inescapable, yet
completely welcome as it soothes the listener into a state of
transcendental relaxation.
Closing out the EP, Into The Dark reinforces the recurring
release motif of organically driven sonic elements, which help
to bring the listener to catharsis. A rising piano reaches
unceasingly toward the clouds, creating a distinct sense of
anticipation. The melody briefly falls away and returns with an
almost piercing quality, as the track slowly heads towards its
end, reaching a conclusion with delicately crafted keys.
