Brazilian Love Affair second time round:
Following on from Volume 1, this album brings you some of the best new
recordings from the legends of Musica Popularia do Brazil - tracks like
Marcos Valle's Freio Aerodynamica, and Quarup from Joyce's album 'Hard
Bossa'. Both recorded in Rio and infected with the atmosphere of the
city. The London - Rio connection is celebrated further with tracks
like Ponteio - the Edu Lobo classic given a modern reworking for the
dancefloor, retaining all the original charm thanks to skillful
production of London's Da Lata. Escravos do Jo, another Brazilian
classic is given a fresh and rootsy arrangement by Celia Vaz, and an
exciting new percussive edit is also included. There is previously
unreleased material from Aricia Mess who was introduced on the funky
afrobeat track Super Legal from the album Friends From Rio2. Brazilian
Love Affair vol.2 shows its roots in Brazilian music and its heart in
experimentation and rule bending - something which the Brazilians have
a special word for "Jetinho" - liberally translated "Its all in the
interpretation".
The remix project started by Far Out have led to reinterpretations of
classic and contemporary Brazilian music by some of the most innovative
dance producers around. 'Amazon Adventures' is what you get when groups
like Azymuth are remixed by Jazzanova. Ignoring traditional boundaries,
and stimulating fresh ideas, like the first volume, BLA2 gives you a
little of what Far Out Recordings does best.
