WildernessÆ was originally recorded by South African jazz legend, Zacks Nkosi,
in the mid 70Æs. In contrast to NkosiÆs laid back version, Speedometer up the
revs for a funk fuelled Afro beat floor shaker.æPt.1Æ kicks off with the
signature bassline, followed rapidly by percussion and wah wah guitar as the
horn section blow the theme. Look out for tasty little solos by bandleader,
Leigh Gracie on guitar and Matt McKay on flute. æPt.2Æ fades in with Speedometer
rhythm section at their raw best as the horns return to the theme and the tempo
switches into an Afro beat rhythm. As the Afro percussion groove works up a
sweat thereÆs a nifty horn solo for an authentic Afro funk finale.
