B1 White Hen Pantry Feat Dan Flynn 3:15
Eric Blowtorch is committed to upholding certain standardsùthe U.K. 1970s punk
ethos of simplicity and engagement, flavored by select sounds of the Æ60s from
the African-Caribbean-American musical continuum. Little wonder then that he may
be the only Milwaukee artist who still regards the vinyl 45 as a viable medium
for reaching his public. ôJoyful Noiseö is a highly politicized call to hope
whose funky backbeat drives a Caribbean rhythm and melody. ItÆs like a fun, lost
single by a forgotten band from an increasingly distant past. The instrumental
B-side is more intriguing still, with jazz overtones and solid rhythm lending it
a slightly haunting, after-hours feel.
Milwaukee's Eric 'Blowtorch' Beaumont and his Inflammables get down with some
infectious contemporary break funks on the catchy groove that is "Joyful Noise".
Dan Flynn teams up with the combo on the flipside to add his guitar to heavy,
deep funk instrumental rendition of Blowtorch's "Late Night Convenience Store",
transforming it into "White Hen Party".
