Kashiwa Daisuke from Japan started off as the composer and
guitarist for his band yodaka in 2001. Their post-rock
psychedelic sound and his influences by Jim O'Rourke, Alva
Noto, Maurizio Bianchi, and Yoshihiro Hanno made him start a
solo project in 2004. As a solo-artist, his idea is to create
not only acoustic, but also electronic filmy soundscapes and
atmospheres. And he is doing that by combining a variety of
classic instruments, spoken word snippets, and crisp beats
with a proper amount of ambient.
When not working alone, he teams up with Aoki Takamasa of
Progressive Form/Japan, the Popmuzik records crew, and Mokira,
a Mille Plateaux artist.
Daisuke himself has not had any official releases so far, but
he has sold several of his works as mid-length CD-R albums and
singles in Japan. His epic demo-track april.#02 is being heavy
airplayed and pushed through by Ryuichi Sakamoto in his radio
show Radio Sakamoto on Tokyo's J-Wave channel.
In order to get his solo-works officially released, he has
signed contracts with Mitte Musique in 2005. Right now, plans
are to release a full-length album and prior to that a 12"
single of the track deepblue - both on the onpa)))))-label.
