This special two-CD set collects all three of Ned Rothenberg's
unique solo albums (Trespass, Portal and Trials of the Argo),
recorded in New York from 1980 to 1985 and available
previously only on his label Lumina in limited edition vinyl
pressings. Unavailable for many years, the music has been
remastered for this release and now sounds better than ever.
These are the pieces that established Ned Rothenberg as one of
the most technically proficient and imaginative reed players
of his generation. Accompanied by a lavish thirty-six page
booklet complete with copious notes, vintage photos, scores,
posters and more, Solo Works is an essential document of
modern reed music. Included as a bonus are twenty minutes of
music for bass clarinet and electronics never issued before.
