Deep within the thick fabric of your musical taste buds lies a region that can
only be stimulated by those seemingly forgotten elements of perfect pop music:
worthwhile ideas and well-crafted melodies. Recall for a moment that bygone
Golden Age when the radio was dominated by these elements, and there was no case
for alarm clocks, and no brooms left to sweep away stray dollars. This is the
space inhabited by the music of the Payola Reserve. YouÆll find this music
forgotten just before you hear it, but you always remember right afterward.

Unafraid to craft songs that both offer instant gratification and bear repeated
listening, the Payola Reserve are also entirely unapologetic in their ambition
to stand on the shoulders of the giants that came before them. Songwriters Ben
Pranger and Al Pacheco refuse to waste your time with how hip and sensitive and
misunderstood they feel inside, opting instead to hold you transfixed for hours
trying to grasp how their songs can express exactly what you are thinking
exactly when you think it. Unlikely champions of the Baltimore music scene, Ben,
Al, drummer Ken Fisher and bassist Bryson Dudley are the newest harbingers of
the burgeoning renaissance in avant-pop music.

It only takes one live encounter with the Payola Reserve to bring these
characters to life. As they take the stage, you instantly realize that the speed
of sound lags behind that of light in order to allow an unconscious moment of
appreciation for the aesthetics of a great rock and roll band before being
blindsided by the immediacy of their music. Those wishing to avoid such
unconscious conflicts can preemptively negate them by obtaining the bandÆs
latest foray into record-making, ONE LONG APOLOGY.
