The Antarcticans are a four-piece Los Angeles based
instrumental-attack-noise group that formed in late 2001. In
recordings and in their performances, The Antarcticans are a
voilent takeover of overwhelming feedback-peaking builds of
heart-braking psych-trips.
The Antarcticans have performed at numerous venues and college
radio stations around Los Angeles as well as along the
California coast. In 2005, the band performed at the South by
Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas. The Antarcticans
have also played with acts such as Acid Mothers Temple,
Deerhoof, Kinski, and Mono.
In 2004, the band released their self-titled album on CD and
LP, which features all hand-made artwork and packaging. "The
Antarcticans" was released on their TheNewBlackMusic label, and
is available at stores worldwide through Cobraside
Distribution. They are currently recording their second album,
which will be released in early 2006. The Antarcticans can be
heard on KXLU 88.9 (Los Angeles, CA), KSPC 88.7 (Claremont,
CA), KFJC 89.7(San Jose, CA), KFMU 91.1 (New Jersey), KCRW 89.9
(Los Angeles, CA), WXYC 89.3 (Chapel Hill, NC), and many
others...
