Release Notes:
Following in the footsteps of Zero 7, Nightmares on Wax, and the Flaming Lips,
it's the turn of Belle & Sebastian, who need no introduction - the latest in a
long line of acclaimed talents to share their music collection with fans on
Azuli's celebrated CD series LateNightTales. Compiled by Belle & Sebastian,
LateNightTales represents their musical influences, personal favorites and
highlights throughout the years.
Pure pop, Sixties psyche, Seventies rock, West Coast harmonies, beat groups,
folk balladeering, punk, indie, girl groups and bossanova, are just a few of
the slants to crop up without musical contradiction within the Belles own
work. So it is perhaps less than surprising that their choices for
LateNightTales comprehensively cover the waterfront.
Just who chose what is never expressly made clear, but what is presented is a
treasure trove of musical nuggets, some in the public domain, but often
lovingly disinterred specially for the purpose. and certainly never put
together quite like this. Ladies and Gentleman, we give you, Belle and
Sebastian's LateNightTales. An incredible 'mixtape' LateNightTales features
songs by RJD2, Stereolab, The Peddlers, Johnny Cash, The Steve Miller Band,
Paperclip People, Elsie Mae, Ramsey Lewis and many many more.
