│║ Description : ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Remasterd edition of this album originally ║ │
│║ published in 1998 during Inishmore Japanese ║ │
│║ tour. The original European and Japanese edition ║ │
│║ had a different tracklist, however the complete ║ │
│║ list of songs is included in this remastered ║ │
│║ edition. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ It has a bonus DVD with a show filmed in 1998 in ║ │
│║ Club Citta' at Kawasaki (Kanakawa) and some ║ │
│║ other content like promo clips, alternative cams ║ │
│║ and a couple of live songs at Wacken. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ ------------------------------------------------ ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Riot had mostly been a darling of the Japanese ║ │
│║ Metal community after taking on singer Mike ║ │
│║ DiMeo and releasing a series of high quality ║ │
│║ post-80s Speed Metal that drew heavily from the ║ │
│║ winning formula that had been established during ║ │
│║ the Tony Moore era of the band. This concert is ║ │
│║ taken from the bandÆs Japanese tour for ║ │
│║ Inishmore, a highly acclaimed album that ║ │
│║ continues the great sounds that first appeared ║ │
│║ on Nightbreaker. If there is any real flaw in ║ │
│║ this concert it is that it lacks a lot of the ║ │
│║ amazing music from the Guy Speranza era and is ║ │
│║ heavily steeped with tracks from the Inishmore ║ │
│║ release, even considering that it is the new ║ │
│║ album being toured on. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Unlike the concerts of the early 80s with Guy ║ │
│║ Speranza, this album is a high speed listen from ║ │
│║ start to finish, testing the endurance of all ║ │
│║ the members of the band, but mostly that of ║ │
│║ drummer Bobby Jarzombek who really does a ║ │
│║ masterful job at the double bass pedal beats. ║ │
│║ Likewise the dueling guitar solos and the ║ │
│║ general production of the guitar sound are ║ │
│║ impeccable, putting a good portion of the ║ │
│║ various Iron Maiden concerts on CD to shame. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Mike DiMeo really does a stand up job on this ║ │
│║ concert, approaching the music from the eras ║ │
│║ before his own with an equal amount of strength ║ │
│║ as the material that he performed in the studio. ║ │
│║ The Thundersteel songs in particular are well ║ │
│║ done, which is amazing considering how high the ║ │
│║ vocals parts are, particularly the title track ║ │
│║ which was performed towards the end of the ║ │
│║ concert after 13 vocally impressive songs. ║ │
│║ Likewise his rendition of ôWarriorö and ôSword ║ │
│║ and Tequillaö is spot on, actually sounding ║ │
│║ better on the former than Guy Speranza did on ║ │
│║ the 1980 performance of it. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Highlight moments on here are many, but the ║ │
│║ absolute best out of the bunch appear towards ║ │
│║ the end of the concert. ôThundersteelö sounds ║ │
│║ just as powerful as it did in its original ║ │
│║ studio incarnation back in 1988, with the same ║ │
│║ Painkiller inspired guitar riffs, fast as hell ║ │
│║ drumming and over the top vocals. ôLast of the ║ │
│║ Mohicans/Glory Callingö is the best of the stuff ║ │
│║ done from Mike DiMeoÆs studio work, rivaling all ║ │
│║ of their older speed oriented classics and being ║ │
│║ the sole representative of the sadly underrated ║ │
│║ ôBrethren of the Long Houseö release. ôWarriorö ║ │
│║ of course steals the show and is a fitting ║ │
│║ closer to an amazing concert. This songÆs ║ │
│║ overall presentation is a bit faster and heavier ║ │
│║ than its original studio incarnation 21 years ║ │
│║ before, and the guitar solo is performed in a ║ │
│║ more melodic manner than the improvised madness ║ │
│║ Mark Reale performed on the 1980 concert. But ║ │
│║ above all, its performance is a testament to the ║ │
│║ pioneering nature of this band, as this is ║ │
│║ essentially the mother of speed/power metal as ║ │
│║ we know it today. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ This album is highly recommended to anybody who ║ │
│║ loves this band and who doesnÆt have any ║ │
│║ reservations about listening to the stuff that ║ │
│║ came after Tony Moore and Guy Speranza. It ║ │
│║ mostly contains newer material, so it may turn ║ │
│║ off fans of the older material, but it is a ║ │
│║ truly amazing listen. IÆve had it for 5 years ║ │
│║ now and I still enjoy it immensely. ║ │
