The Green Kingdom is the solo project of Michael Cottone, a sound artist and
graphic designer based in Michigan, USA. Interested in creating compositions
which blur the lines between soundscape and structure while keeping a sharp
focus on melody, his pieces are crafted using a variety of instruments,
electronic sources, sampled textures and field recordings.
Since 2006 he has released several sublime albums and EPs on labels such as Lost
Tribe Sound, Dronarivm, Home Assembly Music, Nomadic Kids Republic, Own Records,
Tench, Flaming Pines and many others. He has also put out two releases, an album
on Archives label and an EP on Hello Strange label, with his dub techno/ambient
side-project Dustcraft.
Seen And Unseen is an enchanting album of seven new tracks, with a total
duration of something more than 40 minutes. Cottone skillfully blends together
soothing electric guitar swells, lush textures of warm synth pads, rich harmonic
drones and subtle glitches with acoustic elements of delicate piano, ringing
acoustic guitar arpeggios, relaxed kalimba melodies and lightly strummed ukulele
chords, resulting in one of his finest works to date.
Expertly mastered by George Mastrokostas (aka Absent Without Leave), Seen And
Unseen is an evocative album of introspective ambient bliss which appeals to all
fans of artists like Ryuchi Sakamoto, Alva Noto, The Boats, Helios and Federico
Durand.
This is a limited edition of 200 handmade and hand-numbered collectible copies.
It is packaged in a lovely hand-stamped 127mm x 127mm 280 gsm deep brown
cardboard envelope with the front cover image printed on a polaroid style photo
paper and an insert sheet containing tracklist and information printed on a 170
gsm mocha brown cardboard. It also comes bundled with a download code coupon and
a Sound In Silence card.
