Hailing from Southern France, Tender Forever is a
one-woman show. Melanie Valera, the brains behind
The Soft and The Hardcore crafts intimate
electro-pop, layering what seems like dozens of
female voices over R&B style drum loops and
buzzing/blinking synthesizers. The album starts
off a little slow with a de facto introductory
track called "Every Monday" that breezes by softly
at 40 seconds with light guitar and Valera's lone
voice. And then comes "Take it Off" a
multi-layered pop/R&B concoction about taking a
shower with someone else. Tracks like "Hot" and
"Tender Forever" are intricately crafted pop
songs, jauntily hopping on drum-machines and
swarming vocals. Oh, and when you reach the climax
of "Hot", you WILL feel like dancing. Immediate
comparisons to I Am the World Trade Center should
