This is the first of the four parts of our new compilation Traffic
III. From the beginning, the denomination Traffic was meant to be
an expression of the awareness that movement and change always
were, still are and always will be an essential part of it. And
that you can join in. The records are documents of this changes
that occur step by step. Whether the emphasis lies on the music in
terms of time (future music, retro, music of this timeà) or in
terms of style (breakbeat, minimal, detroit, whateverà),
Traffic III is the product of the encounter between musicians,
DJs, (graphic) artists, bookers, clubs and all the other "crazy"
folks that can`t stop meeting us. Or that we can`t leave alone.
Musically or personally. And the music can speak for itself. It`s
strong enough. And beautiful. It seems that the music is
developing more and more in an emotional direction. Detroit-techno
and breakbeats were the coordinates of Traffic II, the last
compilation which was published 3 years ago. On the first 10" with
MATT FLORES, ADA, GLAGLA the sound clearly moves in direction 4/4.
As always, the musical language is more melodic than straight. It
speaks about the charming ADA who impersonates the story of guests
and friends and creates an almost Cristmassy atmosphere with
Sternhagel. And about Glagla and Matt Flores who are friends from
the neighborhood. Nightlife is (Christian) GLAGLA`s debut on
Combination. With it's melodies and it's brilliant end that is
pointing at dancefloor, it's a track that really calls for
remixes. We are looking forward to many of his tracks. A 12" will
be the next one. MATT FLORES is the man with the not-completely-
straight bassdrum who single-handedly works on his kicking
sketches of garage and minimal. The title Autorock is
self-explanatory - dry as if it comes right out of the fog
machine. Pay also regard to his 12" 'Wookie Disco' arriving in
march. The music on Traffic III lives in different cities and
countries and none of the tracks has been.
