Release Notes:
Jud Newcomb, known to many as "Scrappy," has been a
highly respected guitarist, songwriter and producer
in and around the Austin music scene for a good many
years. He has played and/or recorded with many
groups and artists including Loose Diamonds, Beaver
Nelson, Ian McLagan, Michael Hall, Ray Wylie
Hubbard, Toni Price and more recently the super
roots group The Resentments. The follow up to his
2003 solo release, Turbinado, is the gruff and
groovy Byzantine. Newcomb`s 10 originals here range
from intimate acoustic numbers to mid-tempo
roots-rockers, all warmed by excellent musicianship
and Newcomb`s raspy, road weary voice. He`s backed
by several notable friends including Daren Hess
(Silos, James McMurtry), Bruce Hughes (Poi Dog
Pondering), Ron Flynt, Seela and McLagan.
