Release Notes:
The Green and Yellow TV make music that exists
somewhere between pop's past and it's future,
between the first giddy wave of Sixties psychedelic
exuberance and a sound entirely new, a mix of crisp
vocal harmonies and delicately constructed melodies
which manage to take the familiar and make it fresh-
all over again. Turn on The Green and Yellow TV and
you'll hear hints of Kinks' bounciness, sleek Beach
Boys' beauty and some classic rock swagger, but
soaring above it all is a bright and beautiful sound
of their very own.
Formed in the late 1990's, The Green and Yellow have
been consistently praised by a hard-to-please LA
press. Currently one of the city's most popular
local acts, the band plays regularly at venues such
as Spaceland and The Troubadour, has dazzled the
crowds at both SXSW and CMJ, and received
international attention with multiple spins on John
PeelÆs legendary BBC1 radio show.
With their newest album, Sinister Barrier, The Green
and Yellow TV have honed their skills to a sharp and
gleaming edge, producing an array of distinctive
songs that take the pop tradition and run. This is a
band that knows exactly how to bring an unexpected
depth to a catchy beat without losing all the
sweetness of accessibility, and Sinister Barrier
delivers the pop sugar with enough guitar grit and
lyrical smarts to keep away the cavities.
