YMC is a Swedish group consisting of Yan (alias Jan Lutgebaucks)
and Cpook-E (say 'spooky' aka Erik Svahn) who together form the
Yunk Music Collective. They early on decided to have a larger
variety of music to use as inspiration source, mainly to gain
access to a sound with a more timeless overall production style.
Their goal was to create a dynamic amalgam of jazz, hip-hop, soul,
dub, house and techno and to find a new organic mixture of both
samples and electronica, which would really strengthen the music's
complexity.
They started out in July '97 and on the strength of their very
first demo they were signed to Deep Dish's glorious Yoshi Toshi
imprint - where they have released 2 EP's and have an album
planned. YMC is very much drawn by their mutual inspiration, talent
and lust for music and more labels soon discovered the quality of
the teamÆs work. This gave YMC the opportunity to record the album
"Orange Peel" for Source Records (Germany) and soon afterwards the
highly praised "Phuture Vibes" CD for Deck Deli (Sweden).
"Nice & Slow" is the smoothest jazzy downtempo release yet to come
from April Records. Compared to earlier releases by YMC the album
is a strong follow-up to their "Orange Peel" album on Source. With
its mellow hip-hop beats and slow warm and jazzy-flavoured sounds
"Nice & Slow" fits in excellently with other gentle and mellow
April-artists such as Future 3 and Time Of Madness.
