│║ According to Peavy Wagner himself, with this new album Rage ║ │
│║ they have tried to represent, with their new formation and ║ │
│║ an absolutely contemporary sound, the different stages of ║ │
│║ the band. ║ │
│║ The first five songs are pure dynamite, reminding those ║ │
│║ Rage of the 80s who flirted with Thrash and Speed ??Metal. ║ │
│║ Themes always commanded by some very inspired guitar riffs ║ │
│║ and some print solos by Marcos Rodriguez (I put it without ║ │
│║ an accent as it appears in the credits of this album and ║ │
│║ the previous two). Thus we find authentic pickles like the ║ │
│║ initial "Truth" or the first single "Let Them Rest In ║ │
│║ Peace"; theme dedicated to all those anonymous soldiers ║ │
│║ fallen in countless wars orchestrated by despots such as ║ │
│║ Hitler or Napoleon, which contrary have happened to ║ │
│║ history, even if it is for the worse. Another outstanding ║ │
│║ song of this vertiginous beginning is "Wings Of Rage", ║ │
│║ again mixing rhythms and guitars completely Thrash with the ║ │
│║ melodic typical choruses of Peavy Wagner. ║ │
│║ Do you remember the tuning that began that wonderful series ║ │
│║ of the 60s entitled "The Twilight Zone" created and ║ │
│║ presented by Rod Sterling? Well, this is how the third song ║ │
│║ ôChasing The Twilight Zoneö begins and closes, in between ║ │
│║ we have another good song that may be closer to Victor ║ │
│║ Smolski's time as guitarist of the band. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ From the brief intro "Shadow Over Deadland" begins the part ║ │
│║ of the album that connects much more with the stage of the ║ │
│║ most symphonic band, in the literal sense of the word, of ║ │
│║ albums like "XIII" (1997) or "Ghost " (1999). So "A ║ │
│║ Nameless Grave", "DonÆt Let Me Down" and the ballad / ║ │
│║ part-time "Shine A Light" are loaded with orchestral ║ │
│║ arrangements. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ The last part of the album, however, goes back a little ║ │
│║ more in time and takes us back to the early nineties and ║ │
│║ the albums between "Trapped!" (1992) and "End Of All days" ║ │
│║ (1996). And as a button shows; "HTTS 2.0" is nothing but a ║ │
│║ re-recording and updating of the band's classic "Higher ║ │
│║ Than The Sky" originally recorded for "End Of All Days" and ║ │
│║ usual in all their concerts. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ In summary: ║ │
│║ Peter "Peavy" Wagner and by extension Rage, with classic ║ │
│║ and immortal records as for me are "Perfect Man", "Black In ║ │
│║ Mind", "XIII" or "Soundchaser" (everyone will have their ║ │
│║ favorites) are a blessing for lovers of Heavy Metal of a ║ │
│║ lifetime. This new formation has not yet achieved the round ║ │
│║ disk that defines them. At the moment they seem more ║ │
│║ focused on claiming in equal parts the legacy of past ║ │
│║ stages of the band than in seeking their own identity, ║ │
│║ which does not have to be an impediment when it comes to ║ │
│║ enjoying this work. When he formulated it with Victor ║ │
│║ Smolski to the guitars and Mike Terrana to the drums ran ║ │
│║ out, it could be thought that the end of Rage was near. But ║ │
│║ Peavy has managed to reinvent himself a few times in the ║ │
│║ past, and now, surrounded by two young and talented ║ │
│║ musicians, he seems completely willing to do it again. Rage ║ │
│║ do not want to live on income. It is clear that the ║ │
│║ attitude, the desire to release records and of course ║ │
│║ defend them on the road are still there. And Marcos ║ │
│║ Rodriguez seems to me an excellent guitarist in which to ║ │
│║ center this new stage, not in vain in this disc he rises ║ │
│║ with the prominence over his two companions. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ The disc is perfectly produced by the band itself and ║ │
│║ mixed, mastered, etc. by Marcos Rodriguez himself. The ║ │
│║ striking cover is in charge of the French artist Stan W. ║ │
│║ Decker (illustrator of the last covers of Stryper for ║ │
│║ example). ║ │
