(Belgium / 1993 - Present) There are many ways one might
describe Ah Cama-Sotz. Electronic, ambient, atmospheric, and
experimental are just a few. But, the music is more than its
sound. It is the mood and emotion the music evokes. Herman
Klapholz's earlier works were quite rhythmic and broke into
ritualistic ambient. As the music evolved and changed over
time, it continued down its dark path and became even more
doomy and haunting. Themes continue to deal with some very
heavy issues, and touch on the dark side of mankind. The ugly
side of religion, death, plagues and war. It is the stuff
mankind is constantly causing and fighting at the same time.
Should you choose to listen to Ah Cama-Sotz, rest assured you
will find something dark and sometimes sinister waiting for
you. During his career Ah Cama-Sotz has carved a niche for
himself as one of the darkest industrial acts around. His
music is steeped in a multitude of mythology, occultism and
bloody history, which lend a context and significance to the
individual works that is noticeably absent from a lot of
contemporary industrial / noise music. The past 26 years
(°1993) have seen the Ah Cama-Sotz sound progress from cold,
minimalist electronics through to dark ambient soundscapes
and pounding techno floor-fillers. Herman's boyhood
infatuation of classical music has prominantly formed the
foundation of his present musicality. Subsequently his
fascination for "dance" led him into DJ'ing in clubs and
local pirate radio stations, where he noticed the incessant
evolution and metamorphosis of "dance" and experimental
music. Yet, he didn't want to remain a passive onlooker and
aspired to formulate his individual sound, by mean of
acquiring synths and samplers. His objective was to combine
his musical passion and esoteric ideology which resulted in
an obscure and macabre but rhythmic and atmospherically sound.
This project required an appropriate moniker, which could
integrate and mirror all those constituents. When wandering
in Mexico he uncovered local mythology and found his alter
ego: "Ah Cama-Sotz", named after a giant bat which used his
extremely elongated sharp claws to decapitate his victims.
In the mid-eighties he recorded his first tracks, which were
given airplay on a controversial local radio station, "radio
centraal". While on the air he attracted the attention of an
electronic/ritual band called "Hybryds" which resulted into
a ritual-ambient project/recording for the Antwerp zoo:
"Soundtrack voor het aquarium" (project by hybryds and vidna
obmana). When listening to Ah Cama-Sotz' recordings you will
ascertain his mephystological values interpolated with
rhythmical-ritual ambience and accentuated with industrial
vibes. Ah Cama-Sotz will transport your subconscious in a
mythical universe where his alter ego "Ah Cama-Sotz" haunts
the night and proliferates anxiety amidst every living
creature. Ah Cama-Sotz' music reflects the epitome of
mankind's mis(t)ery and (in)humanity.
Side projects: OKK-ULTh, wai pi wai, pow[d]er pussy,
tortura.

Hi chaps! This is the new retrofuturistic "back to the future"
obso-leet AMOK nfo hybridising oldskool ASCII art and YAML.
As a possible first in the scene (is it really?), we provide an nfo
that is designed to be both human and machine readable.
It is not so interesting for the average joe ripper listener but it
will be a useful tool for siteops, nukers, dupedb and archives
curators.
Why this?
Because we need a structure that can support metadata and UTF8.
As years pass, dirnames are getting stuffed with more and more
metadata. It is impossible to parse 100% reliably because dirnames
are just not designed to be storage for heterogenous metadata.
With id3v2, vorbis and .yml.nfo files, we can fix this problem,
we can have a more reliable dupechecking, automate common tasks,
filter and sort releases based on different metadata, such as
label and have more useful subgenres e.g. acid techno, deep house,
djent...
Now, let's say you want to add last.fm subgenres but you dont want
to put the burden on your rippers to look them up.
With .yml.nfo your prebot could automatically reprocess
the .yml.nfo, add subgenres and other metadata after the ripper
uploaded the release and before spreading the release.
With .yml.nfo, you do not need read access to the media files and
id3 metadata, you can automate mandatory fields checks (eg. source
codec, purchase url)
nfo files supporting the yaml format should have the extension
.yml.nfo
e.g. 00-alice-bob-cd-2018.yml.nfo
The schema_version tag allows that nfo format to evolve and stay
compatible. The current schema will be published in the near
future to make sure all .yml.nfo released will use the same
structure and set of keys.
schema_version: 0.0.4
