█ The adventure started two years ago from the █
█ ludico-musical association of four young Montreal █
█ guys. These meetings gave birth to Malajube, a █
█ pop-rock quartet who have literally shaken the █
█ independent rock scene ever since of the release of █
█ their first opus. With sounds oscillating between █
█ rock, punk and bubble gum pop, Malajube distinguish █
█ themselves with intelligent, meticulous texts in █
█ French, abrasive guitars, virulent bass, nervous █
█ keyboards and raging drums. Result : refreshing and █
█ explosive pop, representative of the ardor that █
█ characterizes the band. █
█ █
█ The band has now two albums. Their first one, Le █
█ Compte Complet, released in November 2004 on the █
█ independant label Dare To Care Records, was recorded █
█ at Ground Zero studio by Martin Pelland from The █
█ Dears. This record cheerfully propulsed their sounds █
█ into QuebecÆs musical universe, many songs charting █
█ in all the college and university radio stations and █
█ on Musique Plus. █
█ █
█ Comes Fall 2005. After a very busy summer, Julien █
█ Mineau (vocals, guitars), Francis Mineau (drums), █
█ Thomas Augustin (keyboards, vocals) and Mathieu █
█ Cournoyer (bass) enter the studio to record the █
█ follow-up to Le Compte Complet. Still on the Dare To █
█ Care imprint, recorded at Breakglass and Beat Box █
█ studios in Montreal by Ryan Battistuzzi, Trompe-lÆ£il █
█ sees the band collaborating with the likes of Pierre █
█ Lapointe (singing on MontrΘal -40░C), Loco Locass (on █
█ La Russe) and members from Les Trois Accords and The █
█ Dears. Fans of the bandÆs shows will recognize some █
█ songs, but itÆs a somehow ôimprovedö Malajube that █
█ awaits them. The new album offers elaborate, █
█ carefully crafted, catchy and melodic tracks such as █
█ Casse Cou, La Monogamie or the first single MontrΘal █
█ -40░C which will heat up your chilly winter nights! █
█ █
█ Since the first album came out, malajube played █
█ around 60 shows throughout Quebec, which includes the █
█ memorable 2005 National Quebec Day show on the █
█ Plaines dÆAbraham, at the Montreal Francofolies █
█ (Spectrum), at the Off-Summer Festival in Quebec, at █
█ Festival de Musique Θmergente in Rouyn-Noranda, at █
█ the Woodstock en Beauce Festival, at Festival de █
█ Musique Incroyable in St-Fortunat and at the North By █
█ North East in Toronto. Whatmore, the band won the █
█ Rising Star and Nova awards at the last Mimi Gala in █
█ Montreal! █

█ In December 2005, after finishing the recording of █
█ Trompe-lÆoeil, Malajube is invited to the Bars en █
█ Trans (Transmusicales Festival) in Renne, France. Le █
█ Compte Complet is scheduled to be released in France █
█ in April 2006, on the new LadilafΘ label. The band █
█ will then tour France at the end of April, and will █
█ head up to Scandinavia for a nice tour they won █
█ through a contest run by the New York promotion and █
█ touring company Planetary Group. A spring release in █
█ the USA is also in the works. █
█ █
█ We are now in February 2006 and Trompe-lÆ£il, █
█ MalajubeÆs long-awaited album will be in stores on █
█ February 7th and the band is getting ready for a tour █
█ that will first take them around the province until █
█ mid-April. A video for the first single, MontrΘal - █
█ 40░C, will air very soon on Musique Plus and Much █
█ Music. █
