The deep house crew brings you once again a high quality release of
soulful dance music.. music with emotion that deserves the promotion..

Somewhere between North Finland and its border with Lapland, home to
vast space, iridescent landscapes, and ice comes Arttu Snellman aka
Lump. As a teenager in the late eighties Arttu was struck, like any
budding techie confined by many months of cold and darkness, by the
new electronic sounds coming out of the US and UK (perhaps also the
motivators for Finish brethren Vladislav Delay, the pioneering SΣhk÷
label, and a strong death metal scene). Profound love for acid house
and emerging bleep techno forced the acquisition of turntables,
relocation to Helsinki and a DJ career interrupted by mandatory
Finnish military service. 5 days later he was discharged for "mental
     reasons".

Relieved, Arttu found himself chosen for a four-year animation course
in the southwest city of Turku. While in school during the mid
nineties Arttu started to amass obscure synthesizers and eventually
built up a small studio. Ambient soundscapes and lo-fi grooves
started to emerge. At home he listened to almost everything whilst
for other people he recalls playing "bouncy techno" while DJing. In
1998 the next step was London, primarily to continue his vocational
animation development. Thus Arttu became a freelance animator leaving
Helsinki and his incomplete education behind whilst ArttuÆs
productions progressively traveled to the deeper and dubbier side of
techno, dug out even further by London's heavy reggae and dub
     culture.

Tracks were mixed live directly to DAT. In 2002 the first Lump EP
emerged on Berlin's (then Cologne's) Sub Static label. More and more
time was devoted to music than animation. Next year London's Sⁿd
Electronic crew took notice and the first Lump live shows surfaced.
Gaining momentum, Lump released a second EP on Sub Static sub-label
Karloff and Philadelphia native turned Berliner Jay Haze then
approached Lump for his net label Textone.

2 net releases later, Jay, taken both by Lump's music and his
jubilant and humble personality, commissioned a Lump EP for his
hibernating Future Dub imprint. During the long hot summer of 2005
sweating at the machines of his London bedroom studio, the
development of that EP swelled into Lump's first full length album.
Lump Dub emerges as a double vinyl LP and CD (featuring 3 bonus
tracks) arousing Future Dub from its slumber.

Somehow from these modest bedroom technical means came a shimmering
album of the highest production values. LumpDub's countless layers
move over and under creating abyssal depth tied together only by the
uniting electronic dub theme. Each sound is sculpted meticulously to
fit or flow just right, revealing new facets at each listening pass.
All of these layers and sounds are mixed live free of precise
sequencing and as such the music takes on a life of its own. Never
taking himself too seriously, Lump confesses that for him music is
all about fun, making music only when in a good mood. From playful to
melancholy, focused to vague, Lump Dub conveys pictures of timeless
concepts from deep within, all from a warm perspective of pure
     positivity.
