12 inch sampler for 'Toxic' club compilation album.
First up is an extended mix of Maurice Starr's 'Electric Funky
Drummer'. Utilizing extra-techy beats and the tension of repeated
build-up's, the track delivers non-stop beat freakiness that keeps its
listeners locked in. On the flip is 3 tracks from local Toxic club
residents: Justice, Jackos & Reanimators. Justice's track is rather
large sounding - smashing guitar drops, ripping sounds of all sorts and
some powerful kicks give this one a triumpthant and remiscent feel.
A balls out production all around and not one to be missed! Jackos set a
stranger tone with 'They Live, We Sleep'. This creepy little builder is
laced with driving tech lines, arabesque-sounding strings and some righteous
bass drops that keep this one sounding anything but the norm.
Finally we have my personal favourite of the album, the track that was
made especially for this compilation by Toxic resident's DJ's Solo &
Uncle O (Reanimators). They start things off welcoming you with
deep & hypnotic electronic vocals, the voice gives way to a deep & sexy
room-enveloping bass as little shimmers of spooky vocal samples begin to
set the mood. Toxic beats, delayed filters & noises warped inside out are
just a few of the things you'll hear throughout the rest of the track - make
sure you turn it WAY up for the breakdown ;)
Original versions of 'remixed' tracks can be heard on the 'Toxic' album
compilation, availble at a store somewhere around here since 2005-11-28.
