Swedish Folk Music can assume many different shapes - two
fiddlers playing together at the light of early dawn at a
spelmansstamma (fiddlers gathering); the air of festivity at a
summer festival with a beer in hand and loud folk rock pumping
from the stage; a spelmanslag (team of musicians) that merrily
play their hearts out to the whirling dancers...

But once there was another element in the music: the drone. A
solid, eternal fundamental note - dram - rumbling beneath the
melody of bagpipes, hurdy-gurdy and nyckelharpa, which was
eventually deemed out of fashion and a strain on the music,
and was made to dissapear almost completely. Lately, however,
the drone has returned. It is the foundation of this CD.
Again, it fills the songs, the instruments and even the
     musicians with its primeval sound.
