The adventure of brazilian music is a story of mixing. A broad
musical patchwork was born from the clash betwween indian, european
and african cultures. Samba standed out and evolved with many
styles, from saudade to batucada.
In the fifties, samba met jazz and created bossa nova. When
bossa nova met rock in 1970, it was the beginning of jazz-rock
fusions. With the discovery of pop, musica popular brasilana spread
all over the world.
10 years later, sampling has occured. Hip hop, house and techno
feed themselves on Brazil. Trance, downtempo and jungle will be
following.
Trip Do Brasil asked 3 years ago 13 electronic music producers
to give their vision of this music, in order to carry on this quest
of mixing.
