Williams Traffic's album "Brian dreams" is not the
Beach Boys' "Smile" nor Brian Eno's "Here comes
the warm jets", nor Brian Jones' "Presents the
pipes of pan at Joujouka"... Brian's dream unfolds
in carabeans bass, oriental or African grooves,
post-punk spleen, cinematographic psychedelism,
giving birth to a forth Brian, fantasised as pop
music last queer myth.
"Brian dreams" has the pop melody and form so far
suspected... finally revealed in this second
album, as the outcome of an alchemy, close to
perfection. No question here of covers nor
nostalgia, but a world of suspended bridges
between outdistanced territories, built upon solid
references.
Williams Traffic is a Franco-American duet, whose
patronymic member, Frank Williams, previously part
of the electro-noisy-lounge group ZFO, left his
mark at the label Source in the end of the
nineties, when Nicolas Kantorowicz, used to be the
Wampas bass player, before founding Sporto Kant's.
Their first album "...And the fugitive" was issued
by Catalogue (BMG), in 2001. Enthusiastically
received almost everywhere in Europe, specially
with the first soundtrack "La fugitive" being
intensively diffused, in England, in a TV clip
featuring the football player Thierry Henry.
