Nomo hail from Detroit and harnesses the raw power of seventeen musicians (with
four drummers!) that includes members of Afrobeat masters Antibalas Orchestra.
Kindred Spirits have licensed what they saw as the best four tracks from last
years debut LP, which kicks off a new series of KS singles called ôAfro Soulö,
and they couldnÆt have started with a better selection! Fiery opener
æDiscontinuedÆ kicks off with a fanfare of brass before letting the band travel
with some bold improvisation and the solo vocal track æMoving In CirclesÆ is
deep soul/jazz at its finest. æBusyÆ is high tempo dance business with powerful
horns while the contemplative and spiritual æBetter Than ThatÆ closes
proceedings with emotive atmosphere. Look out for an album on Ubiquity later
this year.
