Dialogue de l'ombre double composed by PIERRE BOULEZ
Come inutile ornamento composed by GIORGIO MAGNANENSI
A set composed of commissioned electroacoustic works by
Canadian composers Giorgio Magnanensi, John Oliver, and Paul
Dolden, and a new recording of Pierre Boulez' Dialogue de
l'ombre double. Developed over the last five years this
project is the result of close collaboration with the
composers in order to develop a repertoire that makes full use
of innovative approaches to the clarinet. Examining the way
the instrument "reacts" to various acoustical spaces, this
program is high-voltage virtuosity coupled with stunning sonic
landscapes.
Houle has taken the idea of Boulez's "shadow dialogue" as
inspiration for a program of works where the sound of his
clarinet becomes the core of rich sound textures.
An amazing tribute to the now twenty year old seminal piece
Dialogue de l'ombre double for clarinet and tape by Pierre
Boulez put in parallel with new music creation exploring
dialogue between reeds and electronics by Canadian composers
John Oliver, Paul Dolden and Giorgio Magnanensi.
