R&B vocalist Pressha first emerged in 1995 with the single 'Put Ya
Thang Down,' later resurfacing a member of the LaFace label act
Southsyde B.O.I.Z. and scoring a hit with 'Get Ready, Here It Comes
(Choo Choo).' After leaving the group, he remained with LaFace to
issue his 1998 solo debut "Don't Get It Twisted."
For fans of 90's R&B, a majority of this album holds up surprisingly
well. Sure, not all of it. Contrary to AllMusic's opinion, all of
the tracks leading into the familiar 'Splackavellie' are some of the
highlights of the album. Maybe the reviewer there got put on to a
job/genre he had little interest in? Decide for yourself, I guess.
If you let the album play straight through, by the time you hit
track 13 you may think someone secretly changed your playlist while
you weren't looking. 'No Way to Win' is Pressha's attempt at a
modern pop-country songùwho knows what they were thinking including
it on the album. The rest of the album is at least a solid 3 out of
5 stars. Singles included 'Splackavellie' and 'Do Boy.'
'Shake it Down' contains a sample from 'Boogie Shoes' by KC & The
Sunshine Band.
