│║ My first contact with this band was interesting. I had just ║ │
│║ found a fantastic English singer called Nathan James from ║ │
│║ the band Inglorious. I was totally mesmerized by his voice ║ │
│║ and listening to everything his band had released. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ In 2018 I was looking for videos of him on Youtube and ║ │
│║ found several songs where he sang live with Trans Siberian ║ │
│║ Orchestra. After a few days watching them, I realized that ║ │
│║ one of the singers on that 2017 TSO tour was a young ║ │
│║ Croatian musician named Dino Jelusic and decided to watch ║ │
│║ his video singing the song The Safest Way Into Tomorrow. I ║ │
│║ was fascinated by his performance and started looking for ║ │
│║ anything he had sung in and found out that he had just ║ │
│║ released the debut of his band Animal Drive. And that's how ║ │
│║ it all started. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Animal Drive was founded in 2012 as Dino Jelusic's solo ║ │
│║ band but later on it was developed into a full-fledged ║ │
│║ band. Released in 2018, Bite is the first CD of a band that ║ │
│║ certainly has a lot to give to the metal/rock scene. It ║ │
│║ brings an inspired band playing a mix of heavy metal with ║ │
│║ hard rock influences that immediately got me. It is ║ │
│║ difficult to put the band in a specific subgenre but you ║ │
│║ can hear influences from Skid Row to Pantera, from Badlands ║ │
│║ to Dream Theater. But, at the same time, they have a very ║ │
│║ personal and particular touch. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ The guitar riffs are heavy and technical, the rhythm ║ │
│║ section has some pounding drums and basses that match them ║ │
│║ perfectly. The songs are very diverse: you get fast tracks, ║ │
│║ some cadenced ones, some others with a prog feel, power ║ │
│║ ballads, always with catchy verses and choruses that you ║ │
│║ won't forget easily. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ But the part that really grabs your attention is Dino ║ │
│║ Jelusic's vocals (he also plays the keyboards). Certainly ║ │
│║ this guy has not been called on a tour with TSO for ║ │
│║ nothing. He has the technique, feeling and talent to ║ │
│║ compose unforgettable vocal lines. He's got a good set of ║ │
│║ pipes. Although he is a young lad still in his 20s he is ║ │
│║ not a neophyte in music. He has been dedicated to music ║ │
│║ since he was a kid and won the first version of the ║ │
│║ Eurovision Song Contest Junior in Denmark in 2003 when he ║ │
│║ was just 11 years old. Last year, 2019, he also won a ║ │
│║ contest in a Croatian TV program called Zvijezde Pjevaju. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ His voice offers him wide possibilities of range, from high ║ │
│║ to low tones, singing clean melodies to a more aggressively ║ │
│║ and sharply intonation. Since Animal Drive released his ║ │
│║ first CD by the Italian label Frontiers, which was ║ │
│║ presented by none other than Jeff Scott Soto (TSO, Sons Of ║ │
│║ Apollo, Axel Rudi Pell, Yngwie Malmsteen) who was surprised ║ │
│║ after listening to one of their songs, Dino has been ║ │
│║ called, in addition to TSO, to sing with many projects, ║ │
│║ including by the North American guitarist George Lynch, ║ │
│║ famous for playing in bands like Dokken, Lynch Mob, The End ║ │
│║ Machine, KXM, etc. Their project called Dirty Shirley has ║ │
│║ just released its first record that is being very well ║ │
│║ received by critics and fans. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Along with vocalists like Nathan James, Russel Allen, Jorn ║ │
│║ Lande, Henning Basse, Dino is certainly a vocalist that we ║ │
│║ will hear a lot about in this new generation of singers and ║ │
│║ Animal Drive will be the musical powerhouse to show the ║ │
│║ talent of these young musicians in a scene that is thirsty ║ │
│║ for new groups that can show originality in their music. ║ │
│║ Definitely they are not amateurs. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ And that's why their fans are so fervently waiting for the ║ │
│║ band's second album that it is planned to be released in ║ │
│║ May 2020. ║ │
