Like Street Choir's anthemic take on Van Morrison's "I've Been Workin'" before
it, the Mischief Brewers manage to turn a 70s bluesy rock groove into an
unlikely dancefloor mover. JJ Cale's 1976 song "Ride Me High" contains few
elements that one would expect to rock a club let alone extrapolate into a full
12" mix, but that's exactly what they've done. With its uncertain Balearic je ne
sais quois (think Chris Rea's "Josephine"), "Ride Me High" will become the 'go
to' end-of-nighter for the older, wiser, hairier crowd.
