Lyrical wit: check. A vocabulary that rivals your degree in English Lit: you
better believe it. The ability to put these supreme lyrics to a melody and make
it all seem pretty damn effortless: yep. Just the opening track, "Deify, Defy,
Defile," would be enough to secure an ultimate passing grade from this judge...
[it's] a perfect song in so many ways... Whatever/wherever it was Lyons and his
trusted band were on - be it a rare human channel, a fixed mental state or some
metaphysical bolt of Ravenscroft-esque literary lightning - they should make an
immediate dive back into that 'hole' and churn out 2 or 3 more albums to
accompany this fine outing.
