Debut release from Mike L on Leeds based label First Word. The people who
brought you Haggis Horns!
Five time DMC turntablist finalist Mike-L's epic soundscapes incorporate heavy
breakbeats, contagious funk hooks and, naturally, some first class scratching.
Includes bonus beats and scratch sounds for the creative DJs out there.
æHiFi MeditationÆ should appeal to fans of Kid Koala, The Avalanches and to an
extent DJ Shadow. Mike's foray into this mini-genre of cut and paste, breakbeat
trickery is a successful one. He's managed to balance musicality, technical
excellence and humour just right, crucial if you want to stand up against the
best in the business. 'Eye of the Storm' goes a little deeper, coming on like a
cinematic Danny Breaks.
